Forest Beach is off of Forest Beach Road in Chatham, MA. There is free parking for a limited amount of cars. This is family-oriented beach with calm, warm waters for swimming. It also happens to be a favorite of local cottage owners.
While Forest Beach is free-entry, but there are no bathrooms or lifeguards on staff. The beach includes plenty of shells for beachcombing and some rock jetties. Generally, it’s a beach without many people, so it’s usually fairly quiet and peaceful. It’s also a Conservation Area, so it’s a great place to enjoy nature.

For food nearby, there are plenty of options. One very popular venue is the Wild Goose Tavern. They have a wide selection of options on their menu including soup, salads, seafood, and appetizers. It’s a great casual dining atmosphere.
Also, there’s a popular pizza restaurant called the Talkative Pig. It’s only a three minute drive and 15 minute walk from the beach. They are known as a great place to dine for both lunch and dinner and offer takeout. Reviewers say that they have great cocktails and a great wine selection if you are into that sort of thing.
As far as shops, there are many options to choose from on Main Street. But one shop you definitely don’t want to miss is the Mayflower Shop. They have a wide selection of souvenirs and home decor pieces, many of which are made locally on Cape Cod. All the time, they get in new unique collections of items. There’s a little something for everyone.
Not far on Main Street is Christmas Joy and More of Chatham. This store sells Christmas goodies all year, but they are also another great gift shop and place to pick up Cape Cod souvenirs.
There is a local business called Forest Beach Designer & Goldsmiths. However, it is actually five miles from the beach. Still, if you don’t mind the drive, this shop is a great place to pick up some Cape Cod souvenirs in the form of handmade jewelry crafted by local artisans.
